The guy who said he would start modding vanished about two weeks after he said he would start.

not trying to drum up controversy but are we actively looking for someone to begin modding? Im sure theirs a handful of young hungry coders over at Phrozen keep that would love the oppurtunity to try....Maybe its time we move on from waiting for bigj and give some one else , even a small oppurtunity to prove themselves to begin to try something.....

I'm agreeing with mattrav, I know it's been a rocky road buuuut if we sit in stasis waiting for the sure thing, we're going nowhere it seems...
While I'm not complaining because I'm happy just doing what I'm doing, I;'m not willing to pay for the whole server in 5 years just to keep playing the way I want to :)
Is there any way to recruit new modders and just give little snippets and see how they do?
I see a lot of potential running through here and then they're gone. This is a function of the beast and trust me I have a 13 and a 17 year old at home so believe me when I tell you, I know what I'm saying...
They get here, get a lot of goodies, master it, then what else is there? Time to move on looking for the next conquest... The 13 and 17 year olds have a smaller attention span than a goldfish, I'm putting forward we stop trying to cater to them and we start making the game what we want it to be, something that makes us happy and I think like minds will follow us...... There has to be more than 7 of us that would be really happy to just play D2 for the rest of out gaming days and be good with that, we need to find them....
And of course as we think of it and have our modder make the game that way, i would like to see a challenge that absolutely cannot be done by any individual chr, we need challenges that there is no way an over powered zon can do it alone, she will need the auras of a pally and the pure horsepower of a good barb with a trapsin laying traps while a druid calls up the boys and a necro brings the minions and it's a good fight and sometimes you win and occasionally you lose :)

Just saying....

Yup, tmaan said dat!

I'm in agreement with you but the problem is I haven't come across any modder. It seems they have all moved on to other games. The only suggestion I have is we switch mods from time to time but that causes issues because all the chars have to be saved for each mod and reinstalled unless it's a new start every time.

Some of the tweaks that I've noticed are missing;
Cow Exp - seems no where near old exp .
Baal exp - " "
Gambling - Seems almost b.net rates.
Merc - Any weapon for any merc, no boots.
Unique ring drop rate - (not done rips / bunnies) they seem rare, was never the case on this server.

EDIT: How hard is it to mod D2?, done coding and general configuration editing but never tried with D2.

It can be difficult, but just adding new items or changing some small things isn't very hard, too bad we dont have a copy of the apoc mod from when we first changed over with all the talonrage items. That would be a unique change, would prolly have to start over tho.

Who would be keen to start fresh tho, I mean id rly like the 1.13 added quest awards.. mainly tho, I don't like looking at the individual stat bonuses on the all stat items, but it does make the stat list longer :P

Boots on merc is prob the first thing that needs doing, as its clearly there just cant be used = bug :P

I mean if we can just get a start on some kind of progress id be on more, would donate more often.

When launched Sebzy's gaming community it was on the basis that I would host the server with some financial support from a few members and I would cover the rest with the hope of more members support over time. The ongoing development of the patch would be by a modding team from the members wanting participate. As we have found no one is willing to step up and develop the patch. Until some one is willing to continue developing the mod we have to be content with what we have.

It's not really about that, as the fella said months ago when he stepped up, the older modders need to make the software avail to make the desired changes, without it, there is just too much work required to make changes to the original patch.

The game is old but still played a fair bit, there prob is not enough drive to do anything. If I had the right software to look at and make the changes I can do it, I have a mpq viewer already.

I know kevin has copies of the modding software. Send him an email, not a pm. I know he will send you copies.

Hello,

just found this site again and wanted to ask if it's the same hoster as it was back in the days (i think somewhere around 2010). If so, i think i made 2-3 Maps for this Mod and could offer u some time at the end of November (hopefully). I've sent u a PM Highlander to hopefully get an answer soon.

Greetings
JeyP

Well, i'm modding now for over 6 years and can do mostly everything except code-editing. Also i know the most softcoded tweaks.
I just wait for the reply from Highlander and then we will see.

Great, I would love you to take on the development of the apoc mod. When we relaunched it was with the orig Sebzy's patch with some changes. There are a few members that have limited modding experience that I believe would jump onboard and help you as well. It would be good to get a modding team going again.
