Problem with HC hosting 8 accounts

Postby fow » Tue Aug 25, 2015 2:09 pm

Hello all,

Sorry, i am a newby on this server and i have stucked with the next problem:

I am trying to play with difficulty of 8 players game on HC, but i can't understand why i can hold only 4 players in one game. I cant join to the realm in the fifth window of my diablo 2 because it seems like there is a limit of connections to this realm from one ip address which i equal to 4 or i dont know what the problem is. I guess so because as far as i remember it was possible to hold online as many accounts as you want on the different realms. Does anybody know the solution or maybe someone had already faced with this problem?

Thank you in advance for your suggestions.

It isn't error, By the book you should only be logged in once, or a 2nd time for mulling purposes. It was only 2 connections at first but got bumped up to 4 to allow multiple people from a shared ip address's from the same house to connect.

What is the exact problem with loading at the minimum two accounts to also farm? In a realm where you rarely have a multi-player game, it's nice to have that increase in experience and drops.

Oh heck I don't care if you got 2 players in the game, Do you as wish, unless highlander presents a argument otherwise don't worry about it. I'm not involved in the politics, That was the initial thinking at time of setup, was, well you have to mule, so we allowed 2, Then there was requests for multiple users on the same IP address so it got bumped to 4.

The connection limitation was only to prevent people abusing the server. Believe it or not people will setup 8 farming bots, and let them run constantly which is just wrong lol.

Case in point here is a example, I've removed the ip address in question

Aug 25 10:15:36 [error] sd_accept: [428] too many connections from address (closing connection)

16 connection attempts in the span of a hour I won't look into it further, This log is a weak red flag of botting, as most people would try once or twice for failed connection not 16. Following post is a example of someone who is botting.

This continues on and on for pages. The person had setup a bot, and forgot it running with failed after failed connection.

So in short the connection issue isn't to control the player, it's just to catch cheaters/hackers. If anyone wants 8 connections, we need argument for it, presently the argument is for 4 connections.

Well Thank you for reply, yes i did a lot of attempts to try to connect my fifth account to this realm just because i faced this problem first time and couldn't understand what happened :)

I thought that bots are usefull when the realm is blizzard like with same low drop rates, but i don't see any reason to use it on such realms with nice drop rates, where you can play for fun and enjoy your spending time here.

So, quadruple logging is ok?

Hey, more exciting was to register on this forum. The questions were quite easy, but so many times i failed with answers. By the way i see there is one character of 99 level on HC, i guess he made a lots of runs only on 8 ppl difficulty, istn't it? So, but how he did 8 ppl himself if there is limit of connections?

It is me and I play solo, just 1 connection. I never double log or more unless I am transferring or self rushing.

There never has been 8 connections.
Getting exp is easy on this realm as it is, Most realms take the lazy route and just double or do 3x 5x 10x exp gain. We have gear and unlimited exp shrines that allow you to level, so with a shrine and 4 connections you are already almost hitting 8x exp right there.

Then with the ability to kill fast it cuts down on your leveling time significantly. Because there is lots of cool gear added. the first character will be slower and difficult starting new. But once you get some levels and do some boss runs and get those drops more characters created from that point forward level really fast.

I don't understand your argument. You have made 4 accounts wz0 wz1 wz2 wz3, you have 1 character in each account, 3 of which are level 1 and the 4th is level 12.

It appears you haven't played the game through, while we are open to suggestions but suggestions from one person at level 12 to double the exp who probably hasn't played the game through... how do we act on that. we can't.

No one should be able to make 4 accounts.

I agree.

Moogie's solo made level 99 is ample proof that it is not necessary.

I know many people just want to be 99, they don't want to do what's necessary to get there, but new people should be aware that this mod was made to be fun from 1 to 99. Not just after 99.
Ambition is a poor excuse for not having enough sense to be lazy.

I also didn't like the fact that he ASSUMED I had multiples running. I'll say it again, running more than one just for exp is not right. HC, ok, as to get gear if you die but never more than that.
