"This move was a smart one for Bethesda, as it shows that the company is more than willing to reward fans for their loyalty."

Are you listening Blizzard???
Ambition is a poor excuse for not having enough sense to be lazy.

Hahaha. I like Bethesda softworks. Diablo2 is the only blizz game I'll play and even then I won't play it on blizzard servers. Bethesda employees have a unique top of the industry talent you just don't find anywhere else.

John Carmack who is basically the one who made the first person shooter possible for what it is today with ID TECH engines he wrote dropped Activision a couple days after a $18 billion dollar merger with blizzard to join Bethesda softworks (Zenimax). I'm speculating He felt Bethesda offered the best talent.

Image 5 year old engine technology in this image of ID TECH 5.

Then to top it off. ID Software (John Carmack)[Quake games] releases their products to the public free of charge and allow it to be modified when it runs it course and becomes outdated.

The talent you can credit John Carmack with is the lightning affects and the rendering of a 3d world you see in all games of today. Those shadows and light sources, or a map editor so you can change the world environment (modders). Megatextures, if your latest FPS game is a 40gig game and up. You can be sure it's is ID software work, the game maybe huge, but the new method used invented by Carmack allows high quality games to run using less computer resources so you get better detail faster game at the cost of hard drive space.

While ID software games are a thing of the pass. There is still no doubt hands down that ID Tech is the leader in innovation They just move so fast jumping ahead they they don't put out a polished product like the Cry Engine 3.

Credit goes back to him who favored (Bethesda)

Sorry Blizz we love Diablo 2 but. Common :)
